Joto's "Graffiti Cup" is a crisp, stony, mildly fruity, and refreshing sake. It's light-bodied and dry. Uncomplicated and fun.
It's made by the Marumoto Brewery in Okayama and packaged especially in this One-Cup container designed by NYC-based Japanese artist Shiro, for the US market.
Marumoto-san, president of the brewery, tells us that this sake is very popular in his hometown - so much so, that there is a local saying, "Buy these One-Cups in threes: one for your left pocket, one for your right pocket, and one to drink on the way home." This brings to mind trains full of Okayama salarymen and women, slacks pockets bulging with sake cups, all happily catching a buzz on their ride home from work.
These cups of sake are 180ml and sold individually. They are 15% ABV. Light enough to get you home, but strong enough to make the trip a fun one.
