Mugicha is roasted barley tea and is a staple in Japan. It's earthy, nutty, and the flavor is a little more reminiscent of coffee than tea. No caffeine tho! Iced mugicha is mandatory for getting through the hot Japanese summers, but warm mugicha is also delightful and a great caffeine alternative to coffee or black tea. (In Japan, you don't add any milk or sugar to it; you just enjoy it as is.)
This bag contains 32 tea bags. Each tea bag makes 1L (about 1 quart) of tea. You can just pop a bag in 1L of water and leave it in the fridge for 1-2 hours, depending on how strong you want it. If you want to make hot mugicha, put 1 tea bag in 1L of hot water and let steep for 2 minutes. Mugicha is very forgiving. It is very hard to oversteep.
Vegan and soy-free. Contains gluten.
