Shallow bowls are a staple in my kitchen. They're so versatile and I love using them for dishes that are slightly saucy. This shallow bowl is approximately 8" x 7.5" x 1.25" and is about 0.25" thick. It's super solid and is impossible to chip (ok, but don't actually try it) and is made to withstand industrial dishwashers at restaurants. The glaze is a 'wash' and somewhere between shiny and matte and it's has a very pleasing tactile quality.
Luscious Porcelain is a local ceramicist who is the darling of the restaurant industry. You may have had the pleasure of using her ceramics at Berlu, Mae, Dame, Langbaan, and several other local restaurants. If you've eaten food off her dishware, you know how special they are. They are very heavyweight but encompass a fragility in their shape. None of them are perfectly circular, but rather slightly oblong. I affectionately refer to them as 'little beans'. They reflect nature in that they are all almost identical but have slight variations in size, shape, and color and I think its this wabi sabi quality of Luscious Porcelain's dishware that makes them so special.
Colors (from bottom of stack)
Yellow: Almost a dull amber or sand
Green: More of a chartreuse, bordering yellow and green
Blue: Sky blue with a hint of green
Mauve: light pink to grayish-pink. There's more variation between the mauve dishes than in any other color
Gray: Kind of a beige-ish gray. The sort of gray you get when you mix purple and yellow together
If you would like to schedule a video tour of the ceramics, please email email@example.com and let us know a good day/time to arrange a video chat with you.
